  • School hosts school-wide events virtually (promotes safety/health and conserves resources)

  • School promotes green and healthy practices at on-site events, as permitted (accessible recycling bins, healthy snacks, reusable water bottles, upcycled decorations, etc.)

  • School uses half-page fliers and digital agendas, registrations, etc., to reduce paper use

  • School hosts walk, jump, or dance-a-thons (virtual or in-person) to promote physical fitness

  • Fundraising sales use healthy, sustainable options (healthy foods, reusable/upcycled items, or services/experiences instead of candy, sweets, or other disposable, one-time use items)

  • School holds one or more environmentally focused events (virtual or in-person) – Earth Day, Arbor Day, Water Festival, Migration Festival, Everglades Festival, Virtual Science Fair, “Green” Field Day, etc.

  • Administration and PTA/PTO adopt policy that all school events/fundraisers incorporate green philosophies and practices

  • School has partnered with neighboring schools to develop fundraisers

  • Environmental initiatives are visibly communicated to students, all staff (including FNS, Custodial, Grounds, etc.), guests, vendors and the public

  • Administration encourages teachers/staff to participate in green PD opportunities

  • Administration provides PD to support green curriculum/practices at whole school level

  • Green Team is able to meet regularly (every week, month – virtually or in person) to plan & implement green initiatives

  • Green Team and administration work together to identify safe, realistic adjustments to green initiatives this year, while maintaining a commitment to being green

  • School-wide sustainability policies established/promoted by administration (i.e. sustainable purchasing policy that prioritizes reuse instead of new and disposable; purchasing items with higher recycled content, etc.)

  • Provide a survey, suggestion box, or online evaluation for students and staff to allow feedback on your school’s sustainability practices

  • Green School updates are a standing agenda item at student, parent, and staff meetings

  • School planning documents include Green School identity and goals
