AEM Arts Integration Resource Roundup

Happy August and a warm hello!  As you prepare for the new school year, we hope that you know the team at Authentic Exploration Matters is here to support the educator community.  We wish each of yo u an amazing school year!  We have an exciting FREE professional development to get this year started!  This is a Discovery Day being hosted by ORCA(The Ocean Research and Conservation Association) in Vero Beach, Florida on Saturday, August 24.   You can register for this event on our website at: https://www.authenticexplorationmatters.com/discovery-day. Space is limited.  This is an excellent opportunity to find unique ways to elevate a Florida topic(across local, regional, and global scales) through data collection, analyzing, hands-on time in the Indian River Lagoon, and more!  If you attend, you will simply need to get yourself to their citizen science facility in Vero Beach and bring a picnic lunch.  Those who register will receive more information.  You will also be trained in how to lead students in their “A Day In The Life” program!  We hope to see some of you there!

This week the Resource Roundup features a topic near and dear to AEM Educator Ambassador Tiffany Gower.

Tiffany is an art teacher at a Central Florida elementary school and she loves using art to elevate a topic while challenging her students to use their creativity to help tell a story.  Uncover some ideas on how the arts can, and are, integrated into various topics within the realms of engineering, science, math, and more!

Get your students thinking outside the box as they learn about topics that standard highlight.  As we forge into the future, many companies and organizations are searching for individuals and groups that can help tell a story that will link people to a product, idea, or other topic.   Gerald Gordon, Ph.D, President/CEO of Fairfax County(Virginia) Economic Development Authority once said, “Creativity will be the currency of the 21st century”.  Former Congresswoman Barbara Jordan also once said, “Art has the potential to unify.  It can speak in many languages without a translator”.  So, we challenge you to follow uplift the arts in your classroom and school wide community and let the creativity flow!
